When preparing for a home remodeling project, it’s important to know what to expect and to make sure you have a plan in place. The truth of the matter is, how well you plan and prepare will make an impact on what type of remodeling experience you will have. So today, we wanted to take a minute to share a story about 2 different remodeling projects.
A Story of Two Remodeling Projects
Project #1 started with a ballpark estimate.
The contract was full of allowances for selections to still be made and the contract was signed without the details being ironed out.
Design for the project was barely thought through.
And when the project began, the homeowners were disappointed and frustrated.
Last minute selections led to material delays, which led to production delays. They ended up spending more than expected, and the project drug on and on. And on…

Project #2 was very different.
The planning and design phases were detailed and well thought out.
The client and remodeler worked to finalize the design and all of the selections before anything happened on the jobsite.
Because the design and selections were well planned out, the construction phase of the project went smoothly.
There were no last-minute decisions being made and no major changes during the construction phase.
The project stayed on-time, on-budget, and led to an enjoyable remodeling experience for the client!
